Annette Russo, Senior Manager, Capability Building; Johnson & Johnson

Annette Russo knew she wanted to become an EHS professional in middle school.  She saw the environmental impact from a local metal smelting factory (now a Superfund site), and knew that she wanted to keep that from happening in other places.
After getting a degree in Geology, and spending some time as one of the first female mudloggers in the West Texas oilfields, she started a career as an environmental consultant.  She was hired by one of her corporate clients, beginning a corporate career that led her through four Fortune 500 companies, where she added safety to her environmental skills, got a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, and held positions of increasing responsibility.

At Johnson & Johnson, where Annette is the Senior Manager, EHS&S Capability Building, she made a change from the technical side of EHS&S to building EHS&S community and capability.  Her favorite part of the job is helping others to grow as leaders and communicators.

When she isn’t building capability, she lives in a river town in Pennsylvania, where her roots go back to the early 1700s.  She loves to read, write, draw, make things, and play with her dog.
