Day of Service NAEM will be working with Louisville Grows to plant 40 trees in the Portland Neighborhood. Louisville Grows is a non-profit working to increase the tree canopy of Louisville by planting trees on private property. Through their successful efforts to date they have planted over 2,500 trees in environmentally damaged neighborhoods of Louisville. These trees, which are 10 to 18 feet tall when planted, provide a number of benefits to the residents of these neighborhoods by increasing air quality, lowering urban heating, providing shade and lowering cooling bills, soaking up stormwater lessening the impacts of severe rains, and sequestering carbon from the atmosphere. Transportation and lunch will be provided. The project is happening rain or shine, so dress for the weather and be ready to get dirty! Bus leaves hotel at 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $15.00 Lunch: Included (locally baked bread and soup). Open to everyone!
