John Brence, Chief Information Security Officer; Knight Point Systems LLC
John Brence, Ph.D., is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Knight Point Systems, LLC. Dr. Brence is an expert and recognized visionary regarding operational implementation within Cyberspace. As CISO, Dr. Brence guides the overall Cybersecurity strategy for both Knight Point Systems and its clients. Dr. Brence, a pioneer in the U.S. Army Cyber Security programs, has more than 15 years' experience in the Cyberspace Domain and related Information Technology field. He has served in leadership positions in operations, technical analysis and planning within the Department of Defense. He has also served as a technical SME at DHS's U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) and currently manages a large Cybersecurity Program for DHS HQ.
Upon graduation from the United States Military Academy, Dr. Brence was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Aviation Branch. Dr. Brence has a Ph.D. Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. He is a published author and has taught System Engineering at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY.
Dr. Brence is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Project Management Professional (PMP) and has an Information Technology Infrastructure Library Intermediate – Continual Service Improvement (ITIL-CSI) certification.
